Leadership & Culture Consultant | Leadership Coach | Strategic Advisor | Accountability Mindset Enabler

Hi! I’m Kate – a firm believer that accountability is a skillset that can be learned!

I work with individuals and organizations to embrace an accountability mindset to build strong, thriving cultures, overcome complex challenges, and create meaningful strategies.

My writing has been published in Harvard Business Review, Supply Chain Quarterly, Prehospital Disaster Medicine, and by Harvard Business Publishing, EBSCO Publishing, Thrive Global, and various industry blogs.

I have researched and written case studies for use in MBA and executive education courses for colleges and universities including Harvard Business School, Harvard School of Public Health, and the University of Washington.

Over the past years, I’ve taken many bold steps to create my future.
By The Horns is the company I’ve founded with a mission to help others take such successful bold steps to create their own future.

People describe me as tenacious, creative, insightful, a perfectionist, serious, and seriously funny.

I have had a wide and varied career across multiple organizations and fascinating roles, including being a Research Associate at the Harvard Business School, Senior Director of Strategy at Fronetics, Managing Director at Brimstone Consulting Group and Consultant, Coach and Strategic Advisor to numerous Fortune500 companies, startups, Academia and non-profits. I now run my own business where I combine my passion for writing and research with my devotion and expertise in helping organizations thrive in today’s complex world.

One of the roles I’m particularly proud of is being an Olympia’s Leaders’ Advisor (Olympia Snowe Women’s Leadership Institute). The mission of the Institute is to raise the confidence and aspirations of high school girls by helping them develop the skills required to be leaders in their lives. As an OLA, I support this mission by being the primary connection between the Institute and the students, delivering the program and serving as a mentor and role model.

I hold an Associate Coach Certification from the International Coach Federation, a Certificate in Brain-Based Coaching from the NeuroLeadership Institute, as well as a joint MA in International Relations and Environmental Policy from Boston University, and an MPH in International Health from Boston University School of Public Health.
